About Jurassic Park

Jurassic Park is a 1993 American science fiction film directed by Steven Spielberg and written by Michael Crichton and David Koepp, based on Crichton's 1990 novel of the same name. Starring Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Richard Attenborough, the film follows a group of visitors struggling to survive after sabotage disables the security systems of a dinosaur theme park on the fictional island of Isla Nublar. Spielberg acquired the film rights before the novel's publication for $1.5 million through Universal Pictures, with Crichton receiving an additional $500,000 to adapt the story. David Koepp wrote the final screenplay, streamlining the novel and revising several characters. Filming took place in California and Hawaii from August to November 1992, followed by post-production through May 1993. The dinosaurs were created using computer-generated imagery by Industrial Light & Magic and animatronics by Stan Winston's team. Spielberg also invested in DTS to support the film's digital surround sound. Its release was accompanied by a $65 million marketing campaign involving more than 100 licensing partners. Jurassic Park premiered in Washington, D.C., on June 9, 1993, and was released in the United States two days later. It grossed over $914 million during its original theatrical run, surpassing E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982) to become the highest-grossing film of all…
