Plot

The Bounty leaves Portsmouth in 1787. Its destination: to sail to Tahiti and load bread-fruit. Captain Bligh will do anything to get there as fast as possible, using any means to keep up a strict discipline. When they arrive at Tahiti, it is like a paradise for the crew, something completely different than the living hell aboard the ship. On the way back to England, officer Fletcher Christian becomes the leader of a mutiny.

About Mutiny on the Bounty

It was partly shot on location in the South Pacific and became the most expensive film ever made (soon replaced by Cleopatra). The film had a troubled production, with Marlon Brando clashing with original director Carol Reed and eventually facilitating his firing and replacement with Lewis Milestone. This was Milestone's final film before his death in 1980. The film was released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer on November 8, 1962. It received mixed-to-negative reviews from critics and…
